NAMM 2014: Marty Friedman Live and in the US of A

Catching Marty Friedman live in the United States was a rare vision, like catching a glimpse of the majestic bald eagle, or that one time in Arizona a couple years ago when I saw a Sizzler. Marty’s been living in Japan for something like a decade, and I can’t remember the last time he’s toured on these shores, so the Roland/Boss room he performed in was understandably packed. We pushed through the throngs and caught his set on video for you.

By the way, Marty’s new album, Inferno, will be released in May via Prosthetic records. It features guest performances from Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom, Dave Davidson from Revocation, and even Rodrigo Y Gabriella. Plus it features collaboration from Marty’s old Cacophony bandmate Jason Becker. Blabbermouth caught up with Marty to talk more in depth about Inferno. You can read and watch it here.

Chris Alfano has written about music and toured in bands since print magazines and mp3.com were popular. Once in high-school he hacked a friend's QBasic stick figure fighting game to add a chiptune metal soundtrack. Random attractive people still give him high-fives about that.
