Summer NAMM 2014 – Emerson Custom Pedals Did Their Damnedest to Chase Us Away by Uttering the “C” Word

Here’s a primer on how to get the Gear Gods editorial staff psyched on your product: the phrase “5-channel true bypass passive looper” will make us say something to the extent of “fuck yeah!” and there will likely be a high five involved (a passive true bypass high five, most likely). On the other hand, “it nails that Creed drop D tone” is um… well it’ll get you the opposite reaction.

That combination of words didn’t even do the product in question justice, because these Emerson Custom Pedals sound pretty sweet, which is not an adjective I’d ever apply to a guitar track tainted by the plop fizz of Mark Tremonti’s tone.

Chris Alfano has written about music and toured in bands since print magazines and mp3.com were popular. Once in high-school he hacked a friend's QBasic stick figure fighting game to add a chiptune metal soundtrack. Random attractive people still give him high-fives about that.
