Hey there Gear Mortals, in this video I show you guys how to do proper gain staging when recording drums. It was inspired by a recent recording session I had where a drummer came to my studio to re-record all the drums on their album, because everything he had recorded in the previous studio was unusable! It was clipping and distorting like I had never heard before! Why did this happen? Well, the person who recorded it didn’t check if his mic pre or converters were clipping.
