We sat down with pop/rock producer/songwriter/engineer Warren Huart of Produce Like A Pro who has worked on countless albums with bands like Aerosmith, the Fray, 5 Seconds of Summer, and many more, to get his Top 5 POP Songwriting Tips for Metalheads. He had some really good advice, so if you’re willing to hear it, you can learn some really cool things.
Produce Like A Pro’s Pro Mix Academy is hosting a course called Mixing Metal with Ulrich Wild (Pantera, Rob Zombie, Deftones) which will teach you all of his tricks for mixing huge metal tracks. Also out now from them is an exclusive course on Mixing Motorhead, which is exactly what it sounds like – learn how Motorhead mix engineer Cameron Webb mixed their tracks with all the original session tracks!

I think it’s important to listen to something other than metal to get better at metal. Look at Nile vs Karl Sanders solo albums. I’ve been listening to metal for decades and still enjoy just about anything that has soul to it. Just self-released a very decidedly not metal single as well. Hey, you did say you wanna hear what we come up with ;)
