Umeå, Sweden, October 27, 2017 – Swedish software company and drum sampler pioneers Toontrack announced today that the seventh edition of their annual Metal Month will be launched on October 31. Hot on the heels of the company’s praised Superior Drummer 3 release, the month will include weekly metal- and drum-related product releases headlined by a new SDX expansion for Superior Drummer 3 produced by Bob Rock: The Rock Foundry SDX.
“Bob’s name has been on our dream-team list of producers for a long time. Quite frankly, he is an icon and we couldn’t be happier and more proud to have the first-ever SDX for Superior Drummer 3 bear his name,” said Toontrack CEO Peter Knutsson.
The month kicks off on October 31 with the first product release. The Rock Foundry SDX will be available on November 21.
”Metal Month is by far one of the most exciting and successful months of the year for us as a company,” said Peter Knutsson, Toontrack’s CEO. ”It’s a testament of our deep-rooted ties to the metal community and a celebration of the very foundation on which the company was built. We’re beyond excited about what we have in store for our users this year.”

About Superior Drummer 3
Building on the legacy of its predecessor, Superior Drummer 3 was redesigned from the ground up to introduce a completely new and improved workflow, integrated drum audio to MIDI conversion, 35 mixer effects, scalable interface, detachable windows, a comprehensive MIDI library, an all-new core sound library recorded by George Massenburg and much, much more.
“Both in terms of sound, design and functionality, this is by far the most advanced and profound product we’ve ever developed. Our team has gone above and beyond to make something very complex an ease for the end user to work with. It feels great to finally share with the world what we have spent years developing,” said Erik Phersson, Toontrack’s Head of Development.
Superior Drummer 3 is available as a ‘Regular’ version for first-time buyers, an ‘Upgrade’ for owners of the previous version as well as a ‘Crossgrade’ for owners of EZdrummer 2. The program is delivered digitally, available for download through the Toontrack Product Manager directly upon registration. There is also an option to purchase the core sound library pre-installed on a solid-state drive (SSD).
