RIGGED: SUMAC’s Aaron Turner, Brian Cook, and Nick Yacyshyn

We here at Gear Gods are huge fans of SUMAC, the phenomenal new band formed by some of the most inventive, creative minds in heavy music over the past two decades: Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom, Hydra Head Records), Brian Cook (Botch, Russian Circles), and Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists). So I was excited to catch up with the band at their recent New York City show at Saint Vitus Bar to talk about the gear they use in the band, and how it relates to their organic approach to heavy music.

In addition to running down their unique Electrical Guitar Company guitars and cracked cymbals, the band also provide some really informative thoughts on why they choose to use specific tools, so hit play below and enjoy!

SUMAC’s fantastic new album, What One Becomes, is out now via Thrill Jockey Records.
