Let’s start by dispelling all your preconceived ideas about Conquer Divide. Their debut album (also called Conquer Divide), which came out on Friday, was in fact produced by Joey Sturgis, but many people are under the assumption that he put them together like some kind of prefab girl group like the Spice Girls. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. They’re not only self-determined, they literally went to the ends of the earth to complete their lineup – they have members from all over the US, as well as a guitarist from Liverpool and a drummer from Serbia.

They also know a lot about their gear, and they know because they actually use everything in their rigs – there’s no flash or excess in their setups, if they don’t need it, it goes. They were kind enough to show me their full setups at the Pico Rivera stop on this year’s The All Stars Tour, and a fun time was had by all.

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
