TesseracT’s Bass Playthrough for “Messenger” is Tight Like a Tiger

Although I’ve never been a big fan of TesseracT‘s particular brand of djent-y prog metal (the vocals and song structures, which set them apart from many other similar bands, have never grabbed me), there is no denying that the band puts on a formidable live show, and that they have earned every bit of success that they’ve been enjoying these past few years.

What I did notice when I saw the band live a few years ago was that they had an incredible rhythm section, and that bass player Amos Williams, to me, had quite a significant role in crafting their ridiculously tight live show, which is a rareity in this branch of guitar-driven metal.

Amos brings a unique sense of rhythm and groove to the band, that sort of transcends the 0000-riff styles that so many other bands go for. Check out his playthrough of the track Messenger below, to get a close look at his technique:
