I’ll be honest, I haven’t heard too much of SikTh’s music. I’ve always heard great things about them, but I hadn’t gotten around to trying them out on my own. So with this being the first song I’ve heard, I can only sum it up as ferocious. The chords are tasty in that nasty metal way, and the riffs have distinct attitude imbued in them by guitarist Dan Weller.
I’ve said this before, I usually judge a musician’s skill level based on how at ease they are playing their instruments, and Dan’s hands are smooth. I might start referring to him as “Smooth Hand Dan, with that Sick Thicc SikTh Sound.” I don’t know what that was supposed to be, sorry.
Anyway, if you want to learn “Cracks of Light”, check out the link above. You can watch Dan’s smooth hands play through all the riffs, and you can obtain the sheet music for the song through SHEET HAPPENS. While it’ll take time and practice, if you start now, maybe someday you can have hands as smooth as Dan’s.
