Most well known for their cheeky Taylor Swift cover  of “Blank Space”, Michigan’s poppy post-hardcore I Prevail have just dropped this live playthrough for their catchy tune “Scars”. Hoping to show that they are more than just another metal band who have got big after covering a pop song. It is the opening track of their recently released debut album Lifelines out on Fearless Records. With everything you need in this modern day environment of hardcore/metal, it belts out a melodic sing a long anthem of a chorus along with some chunky breakdowns that are guaranteed to “open this place up”.
I can definitely see tons of teenage girls lining up ready to attend an I Prevail show, ready to exorcise their inner feelings but at the same time throw down to some breakdowns. Due for a US tour throughout November and December to promote the release, these boys are just getting warmed up, be sure to get yourself to a show.
Drummer Lee Runestad shows you the solid back bone of the band in the playthrough below, with some seriously solid drumming and your characteristic stick point after pretty much every snare hit, it’s definitely a mover and a groover. He says of the song, “This is a really fun song to play live. I think this song’s message really resonates with a lot of our listeners. I’ll look out at the crowd and get blown away that the kids are singing back every word. It’s great when you get to feed off the energy of the crowd.”
These guys bring the mosh, but not the sort of mosh that’s too heavy for your mum to appreciate.
