Any fans of Eastern Front out here? It’s not often that I go, “oh man I’m stoked to check out this war-themed, U.K.-based black metal band,” but after getting my face rocked by drummer Matt Alston, aka Blitz’s playthrough of the title track of their new album, Descent into Genocide, which is out now on Candlelight Records, I’m stoked to dig in a bit deeper on this band. Blitz (last name Krieg, I suppose) is a monster on the kit, and has the endurance of a champ on this nearly 10-minute long song. That’s a prerequisite though, if you’re going to be playing war-torn, rainy-day-in-London black metal!
