Cincinnati, Ohio’s Cerebral Harvest is a progressive death metal band formed by guitarist Jack Egan, vocalist Jacob Wallace and producer/engineer Zach Sebastian, who then recruited guitarist Thien Van Hoang and drummer Cody Patton. The band is signed to Hollowed Records, home to many fine tech-y metal bands for your consumption.

I bet at this point you’re wondering what this band sounds like – luck for you I’m not just a big tease, I’ve got a playthrough for you for just that purpose, and you can’t get it anywhere else. Peep it:

Jack is playing an Agile Septor 828rn with Bare Knuckle Juggernaut pickups. Filmed by Ethan Bielik Media and recorded at Third Eye Studios.

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.

  • Fucking gnarly!

  • Ultra-sanitized production, guitars are all mids, bass has no bottom end to it, literally every stringed instrument is playing in a bass register but there’s no bass in this mix. Also this dude is tremolo picking bass strings with high gain, which makes it impossible to give those individual articulations any definition.

Not to mention there’s just every boring tech-death trope way all up in here.

    • nah man i think it’s good. and a thin mix is not a bad idea these days.

  • hell yeah. SICK !!!
