There are lots of great drummers making creative use of technology, but for my money, Ben Koller takes the cake. The Converge/Mutoid Man/All Pigs Must Die drum-animal has been sharing isolated studio tracks, old experimental band projects (ForceFedGlass and Blue/Green Heart – which I cannot recommend highly enough, not only musically, but as interesting studies in oldschool Kurt Ballou production), and of course, his incredible POV Go-Pro video series, Koller Cam.
Not too much more to say here – the new installment is “Axe to Fall,” taken from Converge’s performance at the Brutal Assault Festival in Jaroměř in the Czech Republic. Incidentally, Brutal Assault takes place in an 18th-century military fortress! Dig it:
