Zoom is back with a brand new handheld recorder called the H5studio, the latest addition to the brand’s line of their most popular recorders.
The H5studio offers two 19.4mm microphones with 140 dB max SPL and an expansive dynamic range of a full 127 dB. The H5studio uses Zoom’s F-series preamps with dual AD converters, 32-bit float, and 16/24-bit formats plus dedicated gain knobs – so no clipping and no need for post-production.
The H5studio captures up to six tracks (four iso-tracks plus a stereo mix) with sample rates up to 192 kHz, and carefully engineered RF shielding keeps interference from smartphones and Wi-Fi routers out of your recordings, anywhere you go.
As for inputs and outputs, the H5studio offers two locking XLR/TRS inputs that support +48V phantom power and +4dBu line level. There is also a 3.5mm stereo jack with plug-in power. The built-in speaker has a maximum output of 250mW for previewing recordings on the spot, or you can use the 20mW headphone output to monitor.
