Schecter and Machine Gun Kelly teamed up earlier this week for a big ol’ razor guitar that I genuinely thought was a Chibson goof at first. And yeah sure – Chibson has since dunked on it just as the rest of the Internet has. But you know who’s not thrilled about all the hate? Machine Gun Kelly.
In a tweet (or X-post or whatever), Kelly said he’ll never explain his art and that he’s bummed at how people perceive him. Which I guess would make sense if this was some grand sweeping piece of art, but it’s a big ass rectangular guitar body that looks like a razor. It’s not that deep, man.
Plus ridicule and anger toward your art is better than indifference, yeah? Not to mention that Kelly states “true art is conversational” and everyone is talking about it. So I’m not really sure what he’s complaining about. And again – it’s a razor guitar. I’m sure Schecter is thrilled with all the attention.
“i’ll never explain my art, because true art is conversational and always up for interpretation, but i will say, most of you constantly interpret it wrong. and then blame me for your version of what you think my art is. ultimately im sad at how people perceive me in general. peace”
All that being said, someone explain this guitar. Why does it exist and also cost $1,499.
