Hey, did you know that guitarist Ryan Wirth from Aphasia shreds? Well you do now, thanks to our playthrough premiere of the band’s new single “Sinking”.
“‘Sinking’ is one of my personal favorites from our new record, Rebirth, set to release in September and I feel this song captures all of the sounds we set out to achieve with this release, being packed with both chaos and melody from beginning to end,” said Wirth.
“Lyrically, ‘Sinking’ is about both coping with and understanding the loss of a loved one, seeing them in your memories when you are struggling to accept that they are no longer here, and wondering where they are now in the afterlife. Life can be brutal and this song serves as a reminder of both how unfair it is and how quickly it can be ripped away.”
Wirth uses a Legator Arctic Burst N7OD with Fishmans Fluence Modern pickups and Stringjoy 11 gauge strings tuned to Drop F. As for tone, Wirth uses STL Tonehub (Rhythm 5150 Block Letter > Mesa 412 | Cleans AC30) into Reaper.
Aphasia will release their new album Rebirth on September 9. Pre-orders are available here. You can also check out the music video for “Sinking” below.
