After what feels like years of rumors and teasing, the new eight-string Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Majesty model has arrived! Though it’s only a limited edition of 100, so act fast if you’re planning on getting on.
The Majesty 8 features a non-tremolo Mahogany neck with a neck-through body, Basswood wings, and an Ebony fretboard. The Majesty 8 also has fanned frets, meaning the neck is 27″ on the bass side and a standard scale length of 25.5″ on the treble side. Contributing to the extra tension on the bass side of things is a hardtail bridge set at an angle to increase the string length of the bass strings.
The Majesty 8 comes loaded with signature 8 string custom-angled DiMarzio Dreamcatcher in the bridge and Rainmaker in the neck, and are controlled by a 3-way selector switch. The switch also incorporates a piezo bridge system, as is found in Petrucci’s other models.
The Majesty 8 is available in a Mystic Dream finish, and will be hand-numbered on the back of the headstock alongside a certificate of authenticity. The guitar is available here for $4,199.
