STERLING BY MUSIC MAN Unveils 2022 Lineup

Sterling by Music Man is starting their 2022 with a handful of new models and refreshed versions of some old ones. All the below models will be available soon.

First up is the Stingray SR50, which offers a Roasted Maple neck with Rosewood or Roasted Maple fingerboard, a Poplar body, a vintage tremolo, and locking tuners. The StingRay SR50 is now available in Firemist Silver and Buttermilk.

There’s also the new Cutlass CT50, which offers much of the same in terms of body and neck woods. The StingRay SR50 offers two humbuckers, while the Cutlass CT50 offers a versatile humbucker and two single-coil configuration. The Cutlass CT50HSS is now available in Daphne Blue Satin and Pueblo Pink Satin.

Then there’s the Mariposa, which was designed in collaboration with Mars Volta and At the Drive-In composer and guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López. The Mariposa offers a Roasted Maple neck, locking tuners, three-way switching, and block inlays. The Mariposa is now available in Pueblo Pink.

Speaking of signature models, John Petrucci’s Majesty has also made it to Sterling! The Majesty is available as both a 6- and 7-string and features a 12dB push-push volume pot, a Rosewood fretboard, and a modern tremolo. The Majesty is available in a Siberian Sapphire.

Then there’s the Axis AX3QM, which features a 5-way selector, an asymmetrical neck, and a vintage-inspired tremolo. The Axis AX3QM is available in two new quilted Maple finishes – Spectrum Red and Spectrum Blue.

Bassists are also getting some love from Sterling with their new Ray 34 and Ray 35 basses. The basses feature a Roasted Maple neck, a modern contoured body, and a 3-band active pickup that acts as either a single or dual alnico humbucker. The StingRay Ray34 is now available in Purple Sparkle, Blue Sparkle, Seafoam Sparkle, Heritage Cherry Bust, Neptune Blue, and Dark Scarlet Burst Satin. The StingRay Ray35 comes in Purple Sparkle, Blue Sparkle, and Dark Scarlet Burst Satin.

And finally there’s the StingRay Short Scale RaySS4. The bass features a 30″ scale length, passive boost, and single humbucking pickup with higher output neodymium magnets capable of parallel, true single-coil, and series modes. The StingRay Short Scale RaySS4 is now available in Black with a tortoise pickguard.
