Sterling by Ernie Ball is now streaming a new demo of their DarkRay bass featuring Leanne Bowes.
Ernie Ball Music Man teamed up with Darkglass Electronics earlier this year to make probably the grittiest bass this side of heavy tone. The duo came up with the DarkRay 4 string bass, which features a 2 Band EQ preamp designed by Darkglass Electronics. The preamp offers a clean tone, a distortion tone named Alpha, and a fuzz tone named Omega. Both distortion circuits are fully mixable via an onboard gain knob and blend control, and a bright LED ring and 3-way lever switch indicate which mode the bass is in.
The DarkRay 4 features a roasted maple neck, ebony fingerboard with stainless steel frets, and matte black hardware bolted on to a comfort contoured body. It’s also worth noting that the bolt-on neck features a special Darkglass neck plate, should you have forgotten why your bass sounds like a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerine plant. Topped off with a classic neodymium humbucker pickup and yeah, this thing is ready to annihilate worlds.
The DarkRay 4 is available in Obsidian Black from Sweetwater here for $2,499.
