Solar Guitars is back with a new variant of the CHUG pedal, and it’s a little more stripped down in terms of its functionality. Though it’s still got a serious punch!
The primary difference between the CHUG Lite and the original CHUG pedal is that the circuit has been more optimally voiced to use in front of an amp as a traditional distortion pedal, whereas the Original CHUG is voiced as a preamp.
The CHUG Lite also pares things down to a tidy six knobs – three for EQ, Frequency selection, Gain, and Output. The CHUG Lite is housed in a much smaller, all metal enclosure that occupies very little real estate on your pedalboard.
“When we designed this pedal, we wanted this to be more like a distortion pedal that goes into a clean channel amplifier, while the CHUG preamp is basically a preamp distortion,” said Solar Guitars mastermind Ola Englund. “Even though you can use the CHUG pedal as a distortion pedal, this was meant to be a distortion pedal… but can also be used as a preamp. Confusing? Maybe!”
