Introducing The Predator, a striking limited edition Chop Shop run from Solar Guitars that merges boutique craftsmanship, hand-painted artistry, and the visceral spirit of heavy metal into a guitar.
Each model in this run is hand-painted by acclaimed visual artist Costin Chioreanu, known for his dark, cinematic style and deep ties to the world of extreme music. Completed and assembled in Spain, The Predator isn’t simply another graphic finish — every guitar is an individual, unique piece of art, with no two copies ever exactly alike.
Chioreanu explains that the inspiration behind The Predator comes from the natural connection between heavy metal and sci-fi horror. “I was always a fan of good Sci Fi Horror and I always felt it is working hand in hand with great heavy metal music,” he says. “The tension, the unknown, the darkness, the danger, the brutal force of alien predators, they shall all being one of the great sources of inspiration to write a very good riff.”
For Chioreanu, Predator sits at the very top of the genre’s pantheon, and the idea of channeling that character into a guitar design felt inevitable. “Predator is probably in the top of the movie list so this way I come with the idea of bringing this character into metal music, under the form of a guitar handmade design.”
Already familiar with Solar’s instruments, he knew the collaboration would be a perfect fit. “Because Solar has this unique beasty character, which simply works the best be covered in the flesh and (Green) blood of most dangerous alien.”
The result is a completely handmade acrylic painting depicting a brutal rendering of a wounded Predator’s body, with Electric Green blood erupting from the core of the instrument. It’s gruesome, cinematic, and undeniably metal — a visual riff as savage as anything you’d hear through a high-gain stack.
“The whole design is completely handmade… Each copy is different, a unique piece of art,” Chioreanu adds. “And this electric green blood is flying out from the core of this beast guitar.”
