With the Type A1.6W+ and Type A1.7BPM+, Solar Guitars delivers two high-performance instruments designed to thrive under the most demanding playing conditions. They’re not Yellow like the first drop, but hey – they’re still cool.
At the core of each instrument is the EverTune bridge system – a fully mechanical, constant-tension design that keeps the guitar perfectly in tune regardless of temperature shifts, aggressive picking, or heavy-handed bending.
Construction follows a Set-Thru neck design, blending the snap of a bolt-on with the sustain of a set neck. Paired with Alder bodies, both guitars deliver a balanced tonal foundation with tight lows, clear highs, and a focused midrange that cuts through dense mixes.
The necks are carved from Maple and shaped for speed – thin, fast, and comfortable across the entire register. Topped with Ebony fingerboards, both models offer a smooth, responsive playing surface enhanced by 24 Super-Jumbo Stainless Steel frets. Add in Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots, and visibility on dark stages is never an issue.
Where the two models begin to diverge is in their scale and sonic reach. The Type A1.6W+ sticks to a 25.5″ scale, delivering a familiar feel for six-string players while maintaining tight response and clarity. Finished in White Gloss, it pairs its clean aesthetic with a brutally effective tonal platform.
The Type A1.7BPM+, on the other hand, extends into seven-string territory with a longer 26.5″ scale. That added length enhances string tension, particularly in lower tunings, making it ideal for extended-range riffing and modern progressive styles. Its Blue Purple Metallic Gloss finish adds a striking visual edge to match its expanded sonic range.
Both guitars are equipped with newly designed Duncan Solar+ humbuckers featuring Alnico VIII magnets. These pickups are built for maximum output and impact, delivering crushing low-end, aggressive mids, and sharp, articulate highs. Whether you’re chugging through tight rhythms or carving out searing leads, they respond with clarity and authority.
Control comes via a Five-Way Blade Switch, offering a range of tonal options that go beyond standard humbucker configurations. This added flexibility allows players to dial in everything from full-throttle saturation to more nuanced, dynamic textures.
Hardware appointments round out the package with a clear focus on reliability. Solar 18:1 Locking Tuners ensure quick string changes and stable tuning, while the Graphtech Black Tusq XL nut enhances sustain and tuning consistency.
