Charvel keeps the high-performance tradition alive with the latest addition to the Pro-Mod lineup—the San Dimas Style 1 HSS FR E Sassafras. Designed with speed, tone, and road-worthiness in mind, this axe delivers modern features without ditching the legacy of hot-rodded design.
Built around a lightweight Sassafras body, the San Dimas features a bolt-on Maple neck reinforced with graphite rods — ideal for staying true under the pressure of travel and climate changes. The neck is all about performance, with a speed-profile carve, rolled edges for that broken-in feel, and a heel-mount truss rod wheel for quick adjustments on the fly.
The Ebony fingerboard (12″-16″ compound radius) is made for fluid lead work, hosting 22 jumbo frets and classic white dot inlays. Whether you’re ripping through solos or holding down rhythm duties, the playability is fast, smooth, and reliable.
Under the hood, Charvel equips this model with a versatile Seymour Duncan pickup setup: a JB TB-4 humbucker in the bridge and a pair of Custom Flat Strat SSL-6 single-coils in the middle and neck. Expect hot, aggressive tone from the bridge, and a punchy, Strat-like chime in the neck and middle—great for everything from modern metal to classic fusion and blues.
Tone shaping is handled by a five-way blade switch, a no-load tone control (which bypasses the circuit at 10 for more clarity), and a volume knob with push/pull functionality. Rounding things out is a Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking trem, delivering all the dive-bomb and flutter action you need without killing your tuning stability.
