RedOctane Returns With Stage Tour, Which Is Basically Guitar Hero but Now

If you ever memorized every riff on Guitar Hero, air-guitared in your bedroom like a stadium headliner, or obsessed over flawless streaks on a plastic fretboard, Stage Tour is about to plug you straight back into your glory days.

RedOctane — the studio that helped ignite the rhythm-game revolution — has officially returned with Stage Tour, a brand-new rhythm-action title designed to bottle the chaos, adrenaline, and sheer joy of the five-fret era while pushing the format into modern territory.

Built by original developers who helped bring note highways to life, Stage Tour is being pitched as both a nostalgia trip and a forward-thinking evolution. Expect full-band setups covering guitar, bass, drums, and vocals — but also expanded control schemes that include keyboard, mouse, and standard controllers. Whether you are a plastic-instrument purist or a modern multitasker, Stage Tour wants you on stage.

“Stage Tour is our love letter to rhythm gaming,” says RedOctane boss Simon Ebejer. “We want Stage Tour to feel familiar and authentic, but also fresh… With new instruments and deep charting systems, we’re raising the bar on what we believe a rhythm game can be, while also catering to those wishing to simply enjoy a casual experience and have a good time.”

Yes, there is new hardware. A Kramer-inspired guitar controller leads the charge, joined by a drum kit and wired or wireless microphones for that full living-room-concert energy. In a nod to the franchise’s roots, players will also see Gibson-branded guitars appearing in-game — a tasteful throwback to the licensed six-strings that once defined digital shredding.

But Stage Tour is not content to simply relive 2007. Unlike older rhythm titles that relied on static tracklists and periodic DLC packs, this project is being designed as a live, evolving platform. RedOctane plans regular in-game events, seasonal content drops, and track charts that dynamically adapt not only to your selected difficulty but also to the controller you are using. That means a tailored experience whether you are hammering plastic frets or tapping keys.

“Real moments. Real themes. Real updates,” the studio promises. “We want to evolve the game alongside the fans who support it. Improve it. Expand it. Keep it alive.”

And, of course, none of this matters without killer music. While specific tracks remain under wraps, RedOctane teases “absolute banging tunes” — the kind of riff-driven anthems that demand clenched fists, flying hair, and one-more-try determination.
