PRS Guitars has officially announced the Silver Sky Wild Blue Limited Edition, a striking new take on John Mayer’s signature model. Limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide, this special release is scheduled for availability in 2026 and marks a historic first for the Silver Sky lineup: a matching painted headstock.
Wild Blue now becomes only the third limited-edition Silver Sky color, following the highly sought-after Nebula and Lunar Ice finishes.
John Mayer commented on the inspiration behind the release: “As a watch collector, turquoise blue is a color that has always evoked excitement, so a limited edition Silver Sky in turquoise is the perfect crossover. I hope it brings a smile to both guitar players and watch enthusiasts alike.”
Interestingly, Wild Blue is not a new concept. The color was prototyped early in the PRS x John Mayer collaboration and has been waiting in the wings since the Silver Sky’s original debut in 2018. With this release, that long-held idea finally comes to life.
Beyond the new finish and painted headstock, the Wild Blue Limited Edition stays true to the core Silver Sky formula that players know and love:
- John Mayer 635JM single-coil pickups
- Alder body
- 25.5-inch scale length
- Maple neck with a 7.25-inch radius
- Small bird inlays
One notable distinction: the Wild Blue Limited Edition will be offered exclusively with a Rosewood fretboard, further setting it apart from standard Silver Sky models.
