The Origin Effects Bassrig Fifteen is an all-analogue preamp and DI designed to recreate the tone and response of the Ampeg B-15 Portaflex, the first purpose-built bass combo amplifier introduced in the early 1960s.
Celebrated for its warm clean character, smooth overdrive and unmistakable presence on classic soul recordings, the B-15 remains a benchmark for vintage studio bass tone. The Bassrig Fifteen reproduces this sound and playing feel through a complete solid-state recreation of the original amp’s signal path, including its preamp, phase inverter, power section and reactive load.
Its control layout is based on the familiar B-15 format, offering immediate access to period-correct voicing. A blend control adds adjustable clean signal for maintaining clarity and low-end definition. The analogue cabinet simulator built into the DI output provides an accurate representation of a 1×15 B-15 enclosure, delivering a mix-ready tone for recording or direct-to-PA use.
The DI output can operate with or without the cab sim, enabling the unit to function as a clean DI, an external cab sim, or an unfiltered preamp suitable for pairing with impulse responses.
The dedicated Amp Out EQ section allows players to tailor the Bassrig Fifteen to a wide range of modern amplification systems. These controls compensate for variations in backline voicing, help match driven tones with clean settings, and allow the pedal to replicate the response of a vintage B-15 cabinet when used with contemporary rigs.
