MESA/Boogie is here to give you low end a real punch thanks to their Subway+ Bass DI-Preamp II. Built as a follow-up to the widely respected Subway lineup – including the D-800, D-800+, and D-350 – the new Subway+ DI-Preamp II delivers that same authoritative MESA voice in a chassis that’s roughly 40% smaller than its predecessor.
At the heart of the Subway+ DI-Preamp II is an extended-range J-FET preamp engineered to respond naturally with both active and passive basses. The control layout features a dedicated Gain control that shapes input response, while a footswitchable Boost with its own level control lets players kick into higher-output tones. A Master Volume ties everything together.

Low-frequency control is where this unit truly shines. MESA’s variable Hi-Pass Filter (ranging from 30 Hz to 150 Hz) allows players to remove subsonic rumble that eats up headroom, tightening the low end and improving clarity in any mix or venue.
The Deep and Bright switches offer quick tonal shaping, while the Variable Voicing control sweeps between modern, flat response and a more vintage-inspired contour with a single knob.

For more precise tweaking, the fully active 4-band Baxandall EQ provides ±12 dB of control across Bass, Low Mid, High Mid, and Treble. Sweepable midrange frequencies – 150 Hz to 1.8 kHz for Low Mid, and 300 Hz to 5 kHz for High Mid – make it easy to zero in on exactly the right punch, growl, or presence.
Aux In and Headphone Out make silent practice simple, letting you blend external audio with your bass signal for rehearsal on the go. The Preamp Output supports both 1/4” TS unbalanced and 1/4” TRS fully balanced connections, while a mic-level balanced XLR DI – with Pre/Post EQ switching and Ground Lift – sends your tone straight to front-of-house.
