The Jackson Pro Series Signature Lee Malia LM-87 is currently 10% off over at Guitar Center from its usual price of $949.99, and you can’t really argue with that kind of deal.
Dressed in a dark open-pore black finish, the Jackson Pro Series Signature Lee Malia LM-87 wears its tonewood proudly. The Okoume body offers lightweight resonance with a warm tonal character, while the 3-piece set neck—also Okoume and reinforced with graphite—ensures stability under aggressive playing and low tunings. It’s a road-ready build with visual restraint, topped off by chrome hardware and a black/white/black pickguard that adds just the right contrast.
The Jackson Pro Series Signature Lee Malia LM-87’s electronics are tuned to deliver Malia’s full sonic spectrum, from ambient cleans to bone-crushing chugs. A Jackson LM-87 humbucker in the bridge brings tight low-end punch and searing mids for rhythm work, while a P90 in the neck offers warmth and note separation ideal for leads and cleans. The push/pull coil-split on the volume knob adds a single-coil edge to the mix, and a 3-way toggle makes quick work of switching tones mid-set.
A Jackson TOM-style bridge with fine-tuners keeps things locked in, even under heavy right-hand attack or alternate tunings. Paired with a 25.5” scale length, this setup gives the LM-87 excellent intonation, clarity, and percussive response – especially crucial for modern metal riffing. Die-cast locking tuners round out the tuning stability, keeping things tight and hassle-free on stage or in the studio.
The neck is fast and built for precision. A thin D profile, oiled finish, and compound-radius amaranth fingerboard (curved at the nut, flatter at the upper frets) give players the best of both worlds: comfort for rhythm work and slick access for upper-register lead playing. 22 jumbo frets and shark-eye block inlays complete the package with a nod to Jackson’s iconic shredder heritage.
