The Mahogany Neck sports Gibson’s fast-playing SlimTaper Profile and incorporates a Modern Contoured Heel, offering exceptional access to the upper frets — a crucial feature for Morton’s soaring leads and fluid melodic phrasing.
Capping the neck is a sleek Ebony Fingerboard with a Compound Radius, outfitted with 22 Medium Jumbo Frets. This setup allows for effortless chord work in the lower registers while providing a flatter, bend-friendly feel higher up the neck. Mother-Of-Pearl Trapezoid Inlays add a classic visual touch that contrasts beautifully with the guitar’s dark, modern finish.
Powering the Mark Morton Les Paul Modern Quilt is a pair of Mark Morton Signature Humbucker™ Pickups, handcrafted by the Gibson Pickup Shop to deliver his unmistakable tone.
The Rhythm Pickup features moderate, Patent Applied For–Style Windings combined with a Ceramic Magnet, producing tight low end, increased clarity, and articulate definition under high gain. The Lead Pickup uses hotter windings with a Ceramic Magnet for enhanced output, presence, and sustain — perfect for cutting leads and harmonized runs.
The pickups are wired to a Three-Way Pickup Selector and individual Volume and Tone Controls, all hand-wired and fitted with Orange Drop Capacitors for smooth, musical tone shaping.
