KYLE KONKIEL Posts Demo of His New DINGWALL Signature Combustion Bass

Set to the exact specifications of Bad Wolves’ Kyle Konkiel, the Dingwall Kyle Konkiel Signature Combustion bass delivers a genre-defying range of tones that spans modern aggression and classic low-end authority. Built around a lightweight alder body shaped after Dingwall’s Custom Shop Afterburner, this limited-edition 5-string bass offers exceptional balance and comfort while retaining a bold visual presence thanks to its supercar-inspired Matte Green to Purple Colorshift finish.

At the heart of its sound are three Dingwall FD3n neodymium-loaded single-coil pickups arranged in a tight formation for maximum punch and articulation. Designed in close collaboration with Kyle, the electronics include a dedicated switch to activate the middle pickup independently, opening the door to an expanded range of pickup combinations. Paired with Dingwall’s 4-position Quad-Tone switching system and an EMG 3-band active EQ, the bass delivers remarkable tonal flexibility.

As Kyle himself puts it, “I can get P Bass tones, I can get J Bass tones, and I can get a really monster humbucker sound” from a single instrument. A master volume control and a push-pull active/passive toggle further enhance its adaptability in both studio and live environments.

Playability is elevated by Dingwall’s signature multi-scale construction, featuring Novax’s Fanned-Fret system with a 34–37″ scale length spread that ensures consistent tension, precise intonation, and ergonomic comfort across all five strings. The bolt-on 5-piece maple neck sports a Slim C profile that feels fast and natural in the hand, while the rosewood fingerboard offers a smooth playing surface with a 9.45″ radius and 24 acoustic-sized frets for effortless access across two full octaves.

Hardware choices reflect Dingwall’s commitment to performance and stability. Modified Hipshot Ultralite tuning machines with shortened pegs improve the downward string angle at the nut, enhancing sustain and tuning reliability. A Dingwall Minimalist bridge anchors the strings with rock-solid stability, ensuring clarity and resonance even under the most demanding playing conditions.
