Perfection is a hard thing to achieve in these trying times. It’s a pretty daunting task. But when a company like KMA Audio Machines releases such an awesome piece of equipment, it’s hard to find any other word that describes it. It is unique in function, visually stunning, and it could not have been named any better. Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the pinnacle of effects pedal technology: This is Tyler: The Frequency Splitter.

From the KMA website:

Can you hear the sounds coming from the woods? The steely strokes of his axe echoing glassy through the forest separated from the thuds of the chopped trees. It’s TYLER – a man rough and towering, his flannel shirt is spiked with strands, wielding his steely axe with only one aim: Splitting up your sound.

Like I mentioned before, this thing is a total work of art. It runs the signal running through it in parallel, so you can specifically control the highs and lows. The signal is split into Steel (your highs) that includes a low pass filter and Wood (your lows) that has a high pass filter. The mix knob perfectly blends the two tones smoothly with not chance of any hiccups. There are internal trimpots that help control the impedance of all of the channels, so there is no chance of phase cancellation when using other intense pedals.

The video demonstration shows off exactly how versatile this guy is, sweeping through just about every frequency combination you can think of with different combinations of other pedals, and all of the tones sound totally unique. Tyler is just a fantastic addition to any guitar or bass rig, and if you aren’t sold yet, the active lights for Tyler are his EYES. It is genius.

If you want a little taste of perfection in your sound, check out the KMA website for more info on this slice of nice. I need a Tyler like I need a job (badly, duh). I’m already thinking of all the ways I’d use and abuse this thing, if anything else, just to stomp on my own name. Take that, idiot.
