Ernie Ball Music Man has expanded their John Petrucci signature JP15 model line to include Red Tide, Green Tiger Eye, Ultramarine, and Amber Waves. Because looking good on stage is half the battle, isn’t it?
The JP15 is built for players who want a high-performance instrument with serious tonal flexibility and a touch of visual flair. It starts with a lightweight Okoume body topped with your choice of Quilted or Flame Maple in a multitude of finishes – both the aforementioned ones and the existing. Then there’s the Roasted Figured Maple neck and fingerboard which are all about feel – smooth, fast, and naturally comfortable thanks to a hand-rubbed oil and wax finish and slick stainless steel frets.
Under the hood, the JP15 packs serious tonal firepower. DiMarzio Illuminator pickups deliver a clear, powerful voice, while the onboard piezo-equipped bridge gives you convincing acoustic tones at the flip of a switch. You also get a built-in 20+dB gain boost for solos that need that extra push. Whether you want to run mono or split your magnetic and piezo signals into separate stereo chains, the JP15’s got you covered.
Control is straightforward but powerful. One toggle switch selects between magnetic, piezo, or both pickups, while the other handles bridge, neck, or combined magnetic configurations. There’s also a push/push tone knob that splits the coils in the middle position, giving you extra flexibility without complicating the layout. Rounding it all out are premium appointments like a floating Music Man JP tremolo, locking Schaller tuners, and a Mono case in both 6- and 7-string options.
