JHS Pedals is setting the record straight on June 30. After one of the most unusual product mishaps in recent pedal history, the Kansas City builder has announced the arrival of the NOTADÜMBLË V2: the long-awaited second version of its DIY overdrive kit that corrects the circuit error responsible for the original pedal’s remarkably short lifespan.

The original NOTADÜMBLË was only JHS Pedals’ second build-it-yourself project, offering players the chance to assemble their own Dumble-inspired overdrive pedal. Shortly after its release, however, JHS founder Josh Scott discovered that a schematic mix-up had dramatically altered one half of the circuit.

Rather than recreating the intended clean boost, the pedal accidentally incorporated a circuit based on an even rarer Dumble design than originally advertised. Once the mistake came to light, JHS discontinued the pedal after just two weeks, and even launched a separate pedal with that circuit as a part of it.

What is the NOTADÜMBLË V2?

The biggest correction comes on the clean boost side of the pedal. This time around, JHS says the circuit faithfully draws inspiration from John Mayer’s ultra-rare one-of-one A Box Later pedal, restoring the concept that the original DIY project was always meant to showcase.

Beyond correcting the circuit, JHS has significantly expanded the pedal’s functionality. Where the original combined its effects into a single unit, the NOTADÜMBLË V2 now features independent footswitches for both the Dumble-style overdrive and the boost section, allowing players to engage either effect individually or stack them together.

The Presence control has also been moved onto the main control panel for easier access during performance. Meanwhile, the overdrive side retains its familiar Volume, Drive and EQ controls, preserving the simple, player-friendly interface that helped define the original concept.

JHS has also added several practical features aimed at players who enjoy experimenting with pedal order. A new slider switch allows users to determine whether the overdrive or boost comes first in the signal chain, offering two distinct gain structures without requiring any external patch cables. An effects loop dedicated to the preamp boost circuit further expands routing possibilities.

JHS will launch the NOTADÜMBLË V2 with an initial production run of 6,000 units. However, unlike many sought-after boutique releases, the company has stressed that the pedal is not a limited edition. Once the first batch sells through, additional production runs will follow, although players who miss out on launch day may have to wait for restocks.
