JHS has taken one of its most beloved collaborations and squeezed it into a smaller footprint with the AT Mini, a compact version of the overdrive pedal it built with virtuoso Andy Timmons back in 2016.
Born from Timmons’ love of the Angry Charlie amp-in-a-box, the original AT quickly became a pedalboard staple, and the Mini carries over the exact same circuit as the V1 AT with one key change: the wattage toggle is gone, with the voicing permanently locked to Timmons’ preferred 100-watt setting for maximum headroom.
That setting is central to how the pedal responds. Timmons has long favored 100-watt mode for its volume and subtle compression, and with the AT Mini fixed there, players get an open, loud, and dynamic feel where pick attack does most of the work, moving between light blues grit and full-on crunch without touching a knob. Volume, Drive, EQ, and Air controls handle the rest, with Air in particular letting players dial in the high end to match whatever rig they’re plugging into.
Timmons himself is one of the more versatile players in the business, having spent time as guitarist for Danger Danger, served as musical director for Olivia Newton-John, and logged countless studio sessions alongside a long-running solo career. That blend of technical command and melodic sensibility shaped the original AT, and it comes through clearly in the Mini’s British-flavored punch and saturation.
Like every JHS pedal, the AT Mini is handbuilt and tested by the company’s team in Kansas City, Missouri, and its compact size makes it an easy fit for boards that don’t have room for the full-size original but still want the same high-gain foundation.
