EarthQuaker Devices has teamed up with Idles guitarist Lee Kiernan for the all new Gary, you new best bud! The Gary consists of two sides – a pretty crunchy and dynamic fuzz that dominates the right side, and a natural sounding overdrive on the left.

The right side is controlled by a gain control for the overdrive dubbed the Go knob and the That’s It knob, which controls the master volume for the right. Then there’s the Yes! knob on the left that sets the sensitivity for the envelope that controls the duty cycle for the square wave fuzz, as well as the Oosh knob for master volume. Is it weird as hell? Absolutely. But it’s fun.

On the pedal, EarthQuaker Devices offered: “Gary started as a simple request to create a compact version of the now discontinued Gray Channel, which was a mainstay on Lee’s board and a big part of his main drive tone.

“This was all fine and good, and sounded quite sick, but Gary was demanding that we look deeper and explore his dark side a little more, Gary after dark, Saturday night Gary. So, we sat him down and began the trek of figuring out old Gare-Bear once and for all. The result is a dynamic and destructive pulse width modulated fuzz paired with a natural-sounding op-amp overdrive.”
