IK Multimedia has announced the release of the T-RackS 6 Prism Reverb, a next-generation shimmer reverb plug-in designed not just for lush ambience, but for pushing sonic boundaries into cinematic, evolving, and experimental territory. Whether you’re a sound designer, producer, or guitarist, Prism Reverb offers a creative playground for shaping infinite textures that breathe, shift, and transform over time.
While most shimmer reverbs focus on delivering “beautiful washes,” Prism Reverb goes further, offering unprecedented control over the interplay between reverb, modulation, pitch-shifting, and feedback. The result is an effect that can shimmer, swirl, and evolve in ways that traditional reverb designs can’t touch.
At the heart of the Prism Reverb is its Reverb Core, where Size and Diffusion parameters let you dial in anything from intimate, focused reflections to massive, cathedral-like expanses. Integrated directly into this stage is a Modulation section with Depth, LFO Rate, and randomization controls, plus independent left/right modulation for lush, asymmetrical movement.
From there, a Pitch-Shifting module offers two independent pitch shifters spanning ±2 octaves, tunable to 1/100th of a semitone, each with dedicated level and pan controls. These can be used for traditional shimmer effects, haunting dissonance, or subtle tonal coloration.
The Feedback Control section determines the intensity and tonal character of the reverb’s regenerative loop, with frequency-specific shaping for both highs and lows. The FB PITCH switch places pitch-shifting inside the loop for ethereal cascades, while the FLIP function swaps stereo channels with each pass, adding new dimensions to the sound field.
For sound designers, this means building morphing textures for film, games, and experimental music. Producers can integrate shimmering movement into a mix without stacking multiple plug-ins. Guitarists can conjure shoegaze dreamscapes or ambient swells right inside their DAW.
Prism Reverb runs as a standalone plug-in or within the T-RackS 6 suite, which now includes 63 world-class processors ranging from analog-modeled compressors and EQs to classic studio reverbs and modern DSP tools. It’s compatible with macOS and Windows in AU, VST3, and AAX formats.
