Jon Gomm and Ibanez have teamed up once again for a brand new signature model called the JGM 11. While the guitar isn’t available through retailers just yet, you can check out Gomm showing of the prototype in the vide below. It’s insane.
“What this is, is the proototype of something tentatively named the JGM 11,” said Gomm. “So it’s the JGM model but with some variations, so it’s a different thing.”
So what’re the differences? Well namely the Gotoh tunes for the E, A, D, and G strings alongside the Keith Banjo Tuners for the B and E strings for all those bendy Gomm tunings mid-song. Then there’s the Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend Active Soundhole pickup to really grab all those percussive bits, as well as two outputs – one stereo/mono output capability built in (with strap button) and 1 mono flush mount.
The JGM 11 will feature a Solid African Mahogany back and sides, a Thermo Aged Solid Sitka Spruce top, Macassar Ebony body binding with rounded body edge, and Thermo Aged Spruce modified X-M bracing on the interior. For the neck, the JGM 11 employs a 5-piece African Mahogany/Maple construction with a Macassar Ebony fretboard.
