Ibanez is now streaming a demo of their new 5-string BTB605 bass, featuring the damn-near-impossibly funky fingers of Riccardo Oliva.
At the heart of the BTB605 is a 5-piece Maple/Jatoba neck-through construction, a design known for exceptional strength, sustain, and resonance. The neck runs the full length of the body, enhancing vibration transfer and providing effortless access to the upper registers.
A Rosewood fingerboard with White dot inlays offers a warm, focused midrange character, while Medium Stainless Steel frets ensure durability and consistent intonation across the instrument’s 35-inch scale length.
The body features Okoume wings, chosen for their bright, balanced tonal response and lightweight feel. This combination of tonewoods results in an instrument that delivers both clarity and depth — perfect for modern players who require articulation across the full frequency range.
Equipped with a pair of α1 passive pickups, the BTB605 captures every nuance of the player’s technique with exceptional detail. These pickups provide a clear, open sound with strong mids and lows, well-suited to contemporary bass tones. The electronics are anchored by the Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ with a three-way mid-frequency switch, offering a wide tonal palette and precise control.
Hardware is finished in Cosmo Black, complementing the instrument’s refined aesthetic. The MR5 bridge — part of Ibanez’s Mono-Rail V system — isolates each string for maximum sustain and clean note separation. Each bridge unit is independently secured to the body, optimizing vibration transfer and minimizing cross-string interference.
The BTB605’s 835″ scale length, 47mm nut width, and 19mm string spacing provide a comfortable feel and precise response for complex fingerstyle and slap techniques. Get the Ibanez BTB605 here for $799.99 and keep up with all our Ibanez coverage right here!
