Ibanez is now streaming a brand new demo of their Prestige SR5505 model, thanks to the insane playing of Yuki Atori.
The Prestige SR5505 is built for players who want an instrument that delivers both muscle and refinement. Every inch of this bass speaks to pro-level performance, starting with the Atlas-5 HP 5-piece S-Tech Wood Roasted Maple/Walnut neck. Combined with a fast-playing profile, a 34″scale, medium frets, and the ultra-smooth Prestige fret edge treatment, the SR5505 offers a slick, effortless playing experience that stays comfortable.
The tonewood pairing of an Ovangkol top over an African Mahogany body gives the bass a warm and resonant character with a rich low-mid presence. Add in the Rosewood fretboard, known for its balanced tone and focused midrange, and the instrument delivers a classic, familiar response that feels great under the fingers and sits perfectly in a mix. Neck measurements such as a 45mm nut, 68mm width at the 24th fret, and a 305mm radius all contribute to a comfortable, modern feel.
Electronics are where the Prestige SR5505 turns into a true sonic playground. A pair of Nordstrand Big Single pickups – each wood-covered for a boutique aesthetic – deliver bold, full-bodied single coil tone with a powerful, aggressive edge.
The Japanese-built Ibanez Sonitech Preamp ties it all together with a finely tuned 3-band EQ, a push/pull EQ bypass switch, a passive tone control when bypassed, and a 3-way Mid frequency switch featuring the Hexa Mid system. With this setup, players can swing from vintage roundness to razor-sharp articulation in seconds.
