Ibanez is now streaming a dual demo of both their headless Iron Label models – the QX52 and QX527PB – alongside the tight-as-hell riffing of Alex Lee.
Born from the Quest Series, these two models take the same core philosophy and inject it with the darker, more aggressive aesthetic of the Iron Label line. At a glance, both models share a lightweight Okoume body and Ibanez’s Parallel Wizard neck, a design that maintains a consistent 0.75″ thickness from nut to heel.
Crafted from Maple and Bubinga, this multi-piece construction delivers exceptional stability while offering a uniquely uniform feel across the entire fretboard.

Paired with an Ebony fingerboard and 8-degree slanted frets, the playing experience is what Ibanez calls “zero-drag”. Techniques like tapping, fingerstyle, and even bass-inspired slapping feel fluid and natural, with less resistance than a traditional straight-fret design.
Stainless Steel frets further enhance that feel, offering long-term durability and smooth, effortless bending.
The QX52 sticks to a six-string configuration, making it the more approachable entry point into the headless world. It’s versatile, fast, and adaptable across genres – from technical metal to fusion and experimental styles.
The QX527PB, on the other hand, expands into seven-string territory. Its extended range opens up deeper tonal possibilities, making it ideal for players exploring lower tunings and more complex arrangements.

Both models are equipped with Ibanez’s Q58 pickups – custom-designed specifically for headless guitars. High-gain players will appreciate the low noise floor, while those working in cleaner or more dynamic settings will notice how well the pickups articulate complex chords and fast passages.
The inclusion of the dyna-MIX10 switching system takes things even further. Using a 5-way blade switch combined with an Alter switch, players gain access to 10 distinct tonal configurations. It’s a level of flexibility that allows these guitars to move seamlessly between styles without missing a beat.
