Ibanez is now streaming a pretty funky demo of their headless EHB605 bass featuring the playing of Riccardo Olivera. Built by Ibanez, this headless 5-string combines modern ergonomics, versatile electronics, and carefully selected tonewoods in a compact, performance-ready instrument.
An Okoume body provides a bright, focused tonal base, while the 5-piece Maple and Jatoba neck adds stability and clarity. A Jatoba fingerboard contributes warmth and articulation across the instrument’s 24 frets, helping notes remain defined even under heavy low-end playing.
Electronics come from Ibanez Custom Electronics and include a pair of α1 humbuckers paired with a 3-band EQ, balancer, and master volume. A bypass mini-switch allows players to disengage the EQ for a more direct signal path.
The headless design improves balance and reduces weight, making the bass comfortable for long playing sessions. A sculpted treble-side cutaway allows easy access to the upper frets, while the EHB5 neck profile and 500mm fingerboard radius provide a fast, comfortable playing surface.
Hardware includes custom Ibanez headpieces and an MR5HS bridge supporting the 34-inch scale, delivering stable tuning and precise adjustment. The result is a modern bass built for players who want compact design, reliable performance, and flexible tone shaping.
