Huey Lewis And The News bassist Mario Cipollina’s Warwick Custom Buzzard from 1988 is up for sale. Cipollina was a founding member of Huey Lewis And The News and played with the band up to 1994. According to Reverb, Cipollina got into 5-strings later in his career and only played the custom bass “for an entire European tour.”
The bass has a custom gold plate at the bottom of the fretboard with Cipollina’s name on it, and has been confirmed by Cipollina to be one of his. Though it’d be a lot weirder if it wasn’t his and some person bought a custom bass with gold plate of Cipollina’s name.
“This bass has been gigged and has its battle scars but nothing horrendous,” wrote seller Paul’s Scratch & Dent Orphan Gear Shop. “There’s scratches, blemishes, dings, and random marks. There’s a hole where a former strap knob used to be. The biggest is a chip in the headstock you can see in the picture.”
