Gibson has just unveiled their new Les Paul Modern Studio and it’s not exactly the affordable alternative to the Les Paul that it once was.
The Les Paul Modern Studio brings with it a few key features found on the Les Paul Studio – namely a weight-relieved Mahogany body and Maple cap, a bound Ebony fretboard with a compound radius for improved action and playability, a Modern Contoured Heel for upper-fret access, black nickel hardware, and both coil tapping with additional switching for control over phase and pure bypass.
The Les Paul Modern Studio comes with a 490R pickup in the neck and 498T in the bridge, an Aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic, and offers three new finishes – Wine Red Satin, Smokehouse Satin, and Worn White. All three are available here for $1,999 and come with a soft shell case.
Which again, I know it’s Gibson and I know things can get a little pricey, but bumping up the affordable models a few hundred bucks certainly hurts.
