Hey look, the Gibson SG Supreme is back! The SG Supreme was originally introduced in 1999, discontinued a decade later in 2009, and eventually brought back as a limited run in 2016.
Now the SG Supreme is here again in Fireburst, Translucent Ebony Burst, and Wine Red finishes in the two-humbucker configuration; and an Ebony finish in the three-humbucker configuration. The only difference outside the number of humbuckers that the Ebony SG Supreme comes with a Plain Maple body, whereas the others have a AAA-figured Maple top on a Mahogany body. Other than that, it’s all the same (outside some minor electronics differences).
The SG Supreme‘s Mahogany neck has an Ebony fretboard with a compound radius, 24 medium jumbo frets, and Super Split Block mother-of-pearl inlays. The headstock comes with a new mother-of-pearl “Chandelier Inlay” inspired by a design from the 1940s that was discovered in the Gibson archives. The Burstbucker Pro and Burstbucker Pro+ pickups are paired with push/pull volume controls for coil tapping, along with individual tone controls (master tone control on the 3-pickup exclusive model).
The Gibson SG Supreme is available here for $3,499.
