GIBSON Announces New Additions To Their Original And Modern Pickup Collection

Do you want new pickups? Because Gibson has a ton of new pickups across their Modern and Original Collections. All the new additions offer Alnico magnets, ceramic magnets, covered and open coils, and the convenience of Quick Connect, and are built at the Gibson Pickup Shop in Nashville.

The new pickups include:

’57 Classic Quick Connect Rhythm and ’57 Classic Quick Connect Treble, which provide warm, full tone with a balanced response, packing that classic Gibson Patent Applied For humbucker crunch. They are made to the same specs as the originals, including Alnico 2 magnets, nickel-plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers, and the ability to split coils.

The ‘57 Classic Humbucker shares all the same specs and construction details as the original ’57 Classic but features Quick Connect 4-conductor wiring for more tonal options.

Dirty Fingers Quick Connect Rhythm and Dirty Fingers Quick Connect Treble, which are accurate replicas of the famous super-hot humbucker introduced by Gibson in the 1970s. The Gibson Dirty Fingers pickup is manufactured with three powerful ceramic magnets to produce massive output for maximum in-your-face output without compromising the original tone of your guitar in any way.

The pickup’s overwound yet balanced coils feature adjustable pole pieces, which allow you to fine-tune the output of each individual string. The Dirty Fingers also features shielded, four-conductor Quick Connect wiring for series, parallel, or split-coil operation.

490R “Modern Classic” Zebra, which has the traditional characteristics of the original Patent Applied For pickups but with two key modifications. First, a four-conductor wiring scheme allows the 490R to be connected to any push/pull knob, which lets players split the coils and increase versatility. Gibson also introduced wax potting, which does away with any air space, minimizing microphonic feedback. The 490R is a humbucker with the tonal characteristics of an original Patent Applied For, with a slight increase in upper midrange response.

The 498T “Hot Alnico” Zebra, which is a high-output version of the 490T and combines the more powerful response of an Alnico 5 magnet with additional balanced windings on each coil, which puts the emphasis on the pickup’s upper midrange frequencies for enhanced crunch and sustain.

The 496R/500T Set, which combines the 496R and the 500T. The 496R delivers incredible sustain and cutting power, adding more highs and increased definition without producing any muddiness at all. When used in conjunction with a ceramic bridge pickup such as the 500T, the 496R loses none of its incredible definition. The 496R features neck–spaced pole pieces and shielded four-conductor wiring for series, parallel, or split-coil operation.
