FM Guitars has unveiled its newest premium instrument lineup: the Masterline series. Designed as the brand’s most meticulous and visually striking range to date, Masterline guitars combine handcrafted construction, exotic tonewoods, and boutique-level specifications aimed squarely at discerning players.
Each instrument is handmade and built with neck-through construction for enhanced sustain, superior structural stability, and a seamless feel that makes upper-register playing remarkably comfortable. This construction also dramatically improves ergonomics. Because the neck and body are carved as a unified structure, the transition into the higher frets becomes smooth and unobstructed, allowing players to reach the upper register with ease.
The Masterline series also distinguishes itself through its meticulous wood selection. FM Guitars incorporates a wide range of visually dramatic and tonally rich materials rarely seen together in a single production lineup. Among the featured woods are Buckeye, Wenge, Tzalam, Swamp Ash, Blacklimba, Cocobolo, Birdseye Maple, Purple Heart, Ziricote, Walnut Burl, and Flamed Maple. Each piece is chosen not only for tonal performance but also for its striking natural figure.
Another defining visual element is the multi-piece neck construction. Instead of a single wood slab, Masterline instruments feature necks made from multiple laminated layers of contrasting tonewoods. This technique enhances structural stability while creating a bold, exotic aesthetic that highlights the craftsmanship behind each build.
In terms of range, the Masterline series reflects FM Guitars’ reputation for pushing boundaries. Every model in the company’s catalog is available in the new series, covering a wide spectrum of configurations.
Players can choose from traditional 6-string designs all the way up to extended-range 9-string guitars. For those exploring more experimental territory, the lineup also includes the company’s expansive FM Style instruments, which stretch from 12-string builds up to massive 18-string configurations.
