EPIPHONE Finally Unveils The MIKE DIRNT Grabber G-3

Epiphone has introduced the Mike Dirnt Grabber G-3, a signature bass created in collaboration with Mike Dirnt, the influential bassist whose punchy tone and high-energy performance style helped define the sound of Green Day and shape the rise of modern punk rock.

Inspired by the original Gibson Grabber G-3, the new model honors the instrument that played a key role in the breakthrough success of Dookie, which recently marked its 30th anniversary. Dirnt continues to favor the G-3 on the road, most recently performing with it throughout The Saviors World Tour.

Constructed with a double-cutaway Maple body and a 34-inch scale three-piece Maple neck, the Grabber G-3 delivers a blend of stability, resonance, and fast playability. Depending on the chosen finish, players can select an Ebony or Maple fretboard, each featuring Black Abalone dot inlays and 20 medium jumbo frets.

The classic Grabber “V” headstock returns, outfitted with open-gear tuners with historic clover buttons. A bone nut enhances clarity and sustain, while the Leo Quan Badass II bridge provides precise intonation and powerful attack. Strings are routed through the body and anchored with ferrules, adding resonance and extended sustain.

The tonal foundation of the instrument comes from three Gibson G-3 pickups, handcrafted in Nashville at the Gibson Pickup Shop. The pickups are wired in the signature “buck-and-a-half” configuration, allowing the bass to operate in multiple humbucking combinations. A three-way toggle offers access to neck + middle, all three pickups, or middle + bridge, supported by a master volume and tone control for shaping a wide range of noise-free tones.

Each Mike Dirnt Grabber G-3 includes a hardshell case, making it ready for touring, studio recording, and long-term reliability. Designed to honor Dirnt’s legacy while delivering modern performance, the Grabber G-3 stands as a bold, versatile instrument for fans of Green Day and bassists seeking punch, presence, and unmistakable attitude.
