Dingwall Amos Williams Signature Combustion

Dingwall Guitars has taken its wildly popular multi-scale Combustion electric bass and pushed it into even more elite territory with the Amos Williams Signature Combustion — a 4-string powerhouse designed in collaboration with the TesseracT bass player himself.

At the heart of the instrument is a refined electronics setup. Dingwall loads the bass with a trio of FD3n Neodymium Pickups, delivering a huge, fat low end alongside sparkling highs and impressive transparency — the kind of clarity that cuts straight through dense mixes without losing definition.

Those pickups feed into an onboard EMG B30EQ 3-Band Preamp, giving players a high-fidelity signal path with enormous tonal flexibility. The result is a bass that can plow through busy arrangements, survive long cable runs, and handle complex pedalboard rigs without introducing noise or sacrificing articulation.

The Amos Williams Signature Combustion features a sleek, contoured body inspired by Dingwall’s Custom Shop Afterburner design. Lightweight and perfectly balanced, it pairs seamlessly with a bolt-on 5-Piece Maple Neck for a supremely comfortable playing experience.

Like multi-scale pianos and harps, Dingwall’s fanned-fret design gives each string its own optimized scale length. Lower-pitched strings are longer, aligning with the physics of sound and producing more consistent tension across the fretboard. The Amos Williams Signature Combustion 4-string runs a multi-scale length of 34–37″ and comes tuned BEAD, delivering the kind of piano-like low-end clarity modern prog demands.

The longer scale length keeps the low B string tight and punchy, eliminating the “flubby” feel common on standard 34-inch basses. Harmonics stay better aligned with the fundamental, producing pristine note definition and focused impact even in the deepest register.

The bass ships factory-strung with Dingwall Custom Strings, specifically engineered for multi-scale instruments to ensure even tension, smooth playability, and balanced tone across the entire range.
