Darkglass recently dropped a Sweetwater-exclusive Guitar Essentials edition of their Anagram, and you can check it out in action below thanks to the jazzy licks of Ossi Maristo.
Developed in collaboration with Sweetwater (and Andertons), the special edition builds on the Finnish company’s flagship processor with 11 exclusive guitar amp models and three additional effects.
At its core is a Hexacore processor delivering ultra-low latency and 32-bit/48kHz audio processing, allowing the unit to run up to three Neural Amp Modeler profiles simultaneously with just 1.3ms of latency.
The Anagram’s standout feature is its open approach to amp modeling. It supports Neural Amp Modeler (NAM), letting users load community-created amp and drive pedal captures from the growing open-source ecosystem, while AIDA-X compatibility expands the available tonal options. Users can also load custom impulse responses, pairing their favorite amp captures with virtually any cabinet simulation.
Darkglass pairs its powerful engine with a high-resolution color touchscreen and a drag-and-drop, block-based interface. Players can build presets with up to 12 processing blocks in series or 24 across parallel signal paths.
Six physical control knobs, inspired by Darkglass’ six-band EQ layout, provide quick access to key parameters. Three footswitches support Preset, Scene and Stomp modes, letting players adapt the workflow to different performance situations.
Anagram also serves as a performance and recording hub, with an onboard looper, tuner, global parametric EQ, impulse response loader, tap tempo, mixer and stereo effects loop, which also doubles as an expression pedal input.
Firmware 1.13 also enables multichannel USB-C audio interface functionality for macOS and Windows, allowing direct DAW recording without extra hardware.
I/O includes stereo instrument inputs, balanced XLR outputs, stereo quarter-inch outputs with selectable pre/post routing, MIDI, a headphone output and USB-C for recording and power. The processor can be powered by a standard 9V supply or USB-C Power Delivery for added flexibility.
