The Prashant Aswani Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal PA28 is a refined yet aggressive take on the classic Charvel formula, and it looks pretty damn cool.
At its foundation, the Pro-Mod So-Cal PA28 features a Solid Alder Body, delivering the warm, balanced tonal response long associated with California-style electric guitars. Alder provides strong low end and mids with a clear, responsive top end that opens up beautifully under gain or aggressive picking.
Playability is a major focus of the design. The Bolt-On Maple Speed Neck features Charvel’s Extra-Thin profile and a Hand-Rubbed Satin Finish for an effortlessly fast feel. A 12-Inch Radius strikes the perfect balance between comfortable chord work and fluid lead playing, while the Rosewood Fingerboard’s Rolled Edges give the guitar the broken-in feel of a well-loved instrument right out of the case.
Despite his modern musical vocabulary, Prashant Aswani prefers the organic response of classic passive pickups. The Pro-Mod So-Cal PA28 is equipped with two Custom-Voiced PA28 Passive Humbucking Pickups, designed to his exact specifications. These pickups deliver plenty of output and thickness for shredding and high-gain work, but with a more vintage-inspired voice than the active systems found on many modern Charvel guitars.
The result is a wide dynamic range, excellent touch sensitivity, and a balanced tonal character that excels in both rhythm and lead roles—without unwanted noise or harshness. A Modified Volume Knob placement, raised closer to the bridge, allows for lightning-fast volume swells and on-the-fly level adjustments, a subtle but performance-enhancing detail favored by expressive players.
As expected from Charvel’s Pro-Mod Series, the PA28 is outfitted with premium hardware throughout. A TUSQ Nut enhances resonance and tuning stability, while Charvel Die-Cast Closed-Back Tuners keep everything locked in under aggressive playing.
The Wilkinson 2-Point Tremolo System is a standout feature, offering smooth feel, precise intonation, adjustable tension, and reliable tuning stability—ideal for expressive vibrato, controlled dive bombs, and everything in between. A Matching Headstock Finish and Prashant Aswani’s Signature printed on the back complete the instrument’s refined aesthetic, seen here in striking Inca Silver.
